Nd. c.1870? Consists of eleven paper covered booklets in good condition held loosely within the cloth hardcover binding for this series (Vere Foster's Drawing Series - IV). The binding is a little marked and faded on the back cover. The booklets each have a sepia plate and a water-colour plate and three pages of text. There were 12 booklets in the series. 11 are present here, L10 being missing.

The second edition of Vol. 1 has a number of changed plates, numerous additions to the "Notes on Further Painters" and a catalogue of the "Rope Papers."
