Hardback. Small 4to. A very good copy in a black half leather binding lettered in gilt on a red title-piece. A little rubbing to spine. Marbled edges. Bookplate of Sir John Robert Gladstone. Includes only Parts I and II of the work. It seems that Sir John has taken these parts from the "Field" magazine and had them bound. Part I has 64 pages + 4pp Index. There is no contents page. The subjects covered are management of dogs in health and disease and judging at shows and field trials. There is one full-page illustration and two small illustrations. Part II,pp.iii,65-156. The contents page and list of illustrations are present as are all 23 full-page illustrations. There is no index to Part II. The subject of Part II is sporting dogs. The outer edges of the last two blank pages are damp-splashed. A little foxing to end-papers but overall a nice clean copy with lovely plates.
