This is a work of fiction the profits from which were to go to the Church Missionary Society. There are three factual Appendices entitled "Brief View of the Plan and Operations of the British and Foreign Bible Society and of Kindred Institutions throughout the World;" "The Present Position and Future Prospects of the Church Missionary Society", and "Religious Tract Society, Instituted 1799; Its Principles, Objects and Operations".
