Hardback. Nd. c.1920? A very good copy in dark blue cloth lettered in gilt on spine. The boards are now protected in a clear, removable, sleeve. A couple of pages have been roughly opened. Browning to end-papers. Pp.viii,335. Six illustrations/maps. The author was professor of Surgery in Aberdeen University and Surgeon in Ordinary to the King in Scotland. The book "aims at no more than at presenting a faithful record of my own personal experiences and of my interest in the medical and surgical treatment, and especially the nursing, of sick and wounded soldiers." The three campaigns of the title are the Egyptian War of 1884-85, the Boer War of 1899-1900 and the First World War in Serbia and Italy.
