Pp.xxii,85. 14 full-page illustrations. 20 illustrations in the text. The Trotters Club originated about 1888 and was originally a rambling club and discussion group but soon became a skittles club meeting at the Sheep Heid Inn, Duddingston, Edinburgh. I understand the club still exists and meets there monthly during the skittles season. The club published two books, this and a second volume published in 1909. They contain songs, poems, photos of the club's activities etc. The songs are humorous or light-hearted with titles such as "M'Arthur's Raid on Cooross", "Gowf, Life and Skittles" etc. Contains a roll of members at 1901. The book gives a fascinating glimpse of a small part of Edinburgh life at the start of the 20th century. Loosely inserted is a newspaper review of the book from 1901.
