Snagg (or Snagge) Thomas - Recollections of Occurrences : The Memoirs of Thomas Snagg (or Snagge)

A very good copy in green buckram in a very good dustwrapper which is a little darkened on the spine. This is no. 99 of 300 copies "set in 10 point Monotype Plantin and printed on cream wove paper hand made by Millbourn of Totnes in Devonshire." Previous owner's small ex libris label on front fixed end-paper. Pp.xxii,110. Wood engravings by Kenneth Hunter. Snagge, who was born in 1746, was an actor who played with Garrick at Drury Lane and later in Dublin. This narrative of his experiences throws light on the theatre of his time.

Hardback. A very good copy in a very good dustwrapper which is complete and untorn. This is "Patronage Copy No. 310" which was subscribed for by Lilian Compton MacKenzie (the widow of Sir Compton MacKenzie) and is signed by the author. 328 pages.Numerous illustrations. The story of the Compton Comedy Company which Sir Compton MacKenzie was born into and which he left to gain fame as an author. This copy came from the library of his widow and includes material loosely inserted which predates his death, in particular a copy, unsigned, three page mainly typed letter dated 5th March 1939 by him to M. Willson-Disher objecting to inaccuracies concerning his grandfather in an article written by the latter about the Lyceum Theatre. An excellent association copy.
